Hi! I just wanted to drop by and say you've been absolutely killing it lately. Really appreciate you clearing so many requests. Its a huge contribution. I'm one of the moderators around here so reach out if you need anything.

Also re: images. Looks like on the doomsday image you might have run into the image caching issue where it displays as the old image despite having uploaded a new version. Its annoying and it trips up a lot of people (including me when I started) but it will eventually show the new image. It just takes a while to update the cache even if you force a cache clear.

Also please add categories to uploaded images and tag them with the DLC banners as appropriate (dont have to do it when it happes to include some DLC content, just when the DLC content is the focus). You can browse the image categories at Category: Images. It's not a huge issue and its much more important to have the images in the first place, but they'll have to be categorised at some point so its often easier to do it at upload.

Anyway, see you round the wiki. Hope you stick around and lemme know if there's anything I can do to help!

Heya~ Thanks for message, I appreciate it. It's really satisfying contributing and helping flesh out the wiki, especially since I use it so much myself.

Good to know about the caching issue, I suspect there's quite a few more wiki quirks that I'll have to learn about and possibly go back and clean up.

How do I add categories to images? I can't see how to do it via the File page or the Category pages. Once I know I'll go back and add categories to all the images I've uploaded so far.

Categories are added by adding [[Category: Category name here]] to the text of the article anywhere. It won't show up as text - the only reason it does in this comment is because ive used nowiki tags (which I can also explain if you want). If you want to link to a Category you use [[:Category: Category name here]] with the preceding colon before the category.

The DLC and maintenance banners automatically add the respective categories but have options to suppress that. Their pages have documentation that explains it if youre curious.

Here's an example where I added both the dlc banner and a category to an image

And yes, there's a lot of quirks. Both inherent to the wiki and some we've picked up layering new systems over old. Please always feel free to hmu on my talk page (or here) if you have any questions. The wiki channel on the community discord is also fairly active though i personally dont get there as often as I used to.

Ah sweet, that works, tyvm. I've looked at the style guide but I'm not sure how should images be placed. I'm not sure when to use thumbnails or if they should be left aligned. For example, I've used the existing formatting for this page - https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Guest - but I don't know if it should all be in a standard gallery at the bottom, a nolines gallery for each section or thumbnails.

For this page I'd guess that a standard gallery for each section would be ideal?

How about this - https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Growing_zone#Contextual_menu - how should the gizmo image be placed? I assume thumbnail but I'm not 100% on alignment and position.

Images (and pages) can be in multiple categories if you feel its appropriate. That said, id probably just put it in entities.

As for Images - Entities, its a subcategory of Images - Pawns. On the Category: Images page look for the categories that say ( <num> C) next to the name and they should blue arrows you can click to expand the subcategories.

Ah ofc, that makes sense, cheers. Btw do you happen to know how to measure exact tick amounts for actions? I want to see how long it takes to remove a metalblood heart but I can't find anywhere to see this in devmode and I can't see the Work required in the Anomaly defs.

Thanks again for the help.

Tick counts are usually extracted from the game code just for precision. I'm away from the game atm and I can't remember where operation work is stored off the top of my head, but generally tick counts can be in a variety of places, both in the .xml and in the c# side.

If you're looking at the .xmls and its not there, see if you can find the parent for either the part or the operation because it might be inherited. You can also ask on mod development where to look over on the community discord. They're fantastically Knowledgeable and usually really friendly and helpful
