A Christmas tree is a ritual focus added by the Ideology DLC.
Acquisition[edit]
Christmas trees can be constructed, each requiring 70 Wood,
20 Steel and 10,000 ticks (2.78 mins) of work modified by the construction speed of the builder.
Christmas trees can be constructed by pawns with an ideoligion that has them as a building.
Summary[edit]
The Christmas tree is used to start the Christmas tree ritual which consumes it so it must be rebuilt to be used in future rituals. The tree has no quality level however it can still be "botched" during construction.
The Christmas tree does not require the Christian origin structure, it only requires that the ideoligion has a Christmas tree party ritual.
If the Christian origin structure is selected when creating an ideoligion then the Christmas tree building and accompanying Christmas party ritual are added by default. They can, however, they can be freely removed.
The ritual has an expected duration of 2 hours and displays a special twinkling Christmas light effect. The first hour or so involves the pawns sitting facing the tree from four possible directions and the second half involves the pawns relaxing socially around the tree.
Analysis[edit]
Christmas trees are a poor focus object for rituals. They require steel, which is generally in high demand. It is almost strictly inferior to the effigy, which costs slightly more wood but does not require steel and requires less work to construct.
